How's Your Prostate?
Hi Everyone,
I know I switched to a new blog but there may be people that occasionally check this site. I want you to know that I finally wrote my book, which was going to be entitled, Bagel, Bagel, Crunch That Kegel. Instead, I called it, How's Your Prostate? It is available on Amazon and Smashwords.
It chronicles my diagnosis, treatment, and recovery from prostate cancer. I try to keep it light since all the research I did when diagnosed was clinical or depressing.
I also offer some self-help tips that may help you for early detection and medical information that may help understand some of the terms doctors use when explaining options and diagnostic information.
If you are over 40, I urge you read this. This information helped save my life and it might do the same for you.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays
I’m Nathan and I turned l7 this year. That’s old for a dog, but I’m not complaining. Everyday is a gift.
This year, Ken’s been busy with his new book,
“How’s Your Prostate?”
A Cancer Survivor’s Candid Journey.
Release early 2019. I’m in it I hear, but I’m waiting for the audio.
But, there’s a reason for this message.
Ken and I would like to wish you and yours a Merry Christmas and
the happiest New Year ever. Hugs and kisses.

How's Your Prostate?
How's Your Prostate? A Cancer Survivor's Candid Journey
is the title of my new book. I had prostate cancer ten years ago and am still in remission. When I was first diagnosed I tried to find books that would be of help, but everything was clinical or depressing.
What was needed was an informative book that was on the lighter side and I decided to write it. I did finish it but never published it.
Ten years later, I've pulled it off the shelf, re-edited it, brought it into modern times, and hopefully,
will have published by December or January.
Keep a look-out here or on Facebook on my page, The Gay Detective. I have written two other books, The Gay Detective and Only in Key West, both mysteries with Nick and Norm.

ONLY IN KEY WEST: THE SERIES
Only In Key West has been so successful that I have decided to make a series of Key West centered on the characters and events that can only happen here. The above book has been the first in the series (Volume 1) and I expect to have a total of seven more volumes making a total of eight volumes. (Volumes 1-8) Of course if these go well, I will continue more volumes. It is possible that the number continues far past eight.
Some sample stories to expect are:
1. Merlot and Dr. Jojo open their own own Detective Agency
2. Shoyu runs for mayor and surprisingly is elected. (The first drag queen to ever be elected mayor)
3. Nick goes into Rehab and meets a special person who could be THE ONE.
4. Norm is tapped to be King of Fantasy Fest.
5. The cartel holds Milo responsible for the arrests. Milo disappears.
I expect Volume 2 to be available in time for the Christmas holidays. Thank you to all who have bought and enjoyed Only in Key West. Your requests to hear more about Key West has convinced me to follow my fans. Thanks again.

Cafe con Libros Reaction
Approximately 150 people showed up for the presentation, many more people than I anticipated. I was a little nervous at first but once I had done the first reading, I was in control. Edgardo asked questions after the reading and I was prepared to answer because I've repeated the process a couple of times. The question was: "What is your process for writing your books?" It also helped to know that that might be one of the questions.
I became more and more comfortable as the interview went on and was able to kid around with Edgardo and the audience. I haven't felt that confident in a long time and it felt great.
I lost my place in the book for the second reading and told Edgardo to use that time to give his book a plug. He did and when he was finished he looked over at me. I still couldn't find the place and said,
"I'm sure the audience would like to know more." Now the audience was in on the joke and they all laughed. Finally I found it and I read the second passage. Edgardo asked a few more questions and then we opened it to the audience. There were quite a few questions and I was able to respond with the knowledge I had gained from research and experience.
When it was over, many of the audience members came up and told me how much they enjoyed the talk. The best part was I enjoyed it. I felt my experience at Toastmasters has helped me immensely. All in all it was a great win. Thank you to all who came and I look forward to being a part of the series next year.

Annual Key West Book Fair
Today, Saturday, February 24th from 10-3, I will be at the Oldest House in Key West. Each year writers and the public assemble to display their books and engage in conversation regarding their books. Authors sell their books to those interested. Sometimes, there are refreshments, sometimes not. But a good time is had by all. If you out and about, come join us in a traditionally fun event.
Thanks.

Artisans Market
We have a wonderful event here in Key West entitled "Artisans Market." I'm sure it's like most outdoor markets all over the world where people bring their wares and sell them. Although there
are painters, jewelry makers, and food booths (I was told the ribs were the best. Half a slab for $14 and a whole for $24. I may be off in the numbers but one thing I do know for sure is that the ribs are the best and if I wanted some, I had to hurry because they sell out quickly.) I and three others from the Key West Writers Guild come to sell our books. The event lasts four hours, 10-12 and 12-2. I had the early shift and was glad I did since just as I was leaving, it began to rain. Buyers do not come unprepared. They pulled their ponchos out of their pockets and were dressed for the occasion, undaunted by Key West's somewhat surprising weather at this time of year. Two of the four writers, Wesley Sizemore and Jane Newhagen, stayed on for the afternoon, being joined by Bill Bahlke and Joanna Brady. I was pleased with the event. A lot of friends dropped by, some to say hi, others to buy my book. I do believe I really enjoy the reunions even more than the selling of my books, The Gay Detective and Only in Key West, both of which are doing well, thank you. One of the people I hugged was Jesus whom I told I was coming by the office this coming Friday. He retorted with,
"Thanks for the warning," and gave me a sly smile. Come to the next one, readers. I'll keep you posted.

I do know I'll be at the Key West Book Fair this coming Saturday, Feb. 24th from 10-2, which is held in the back yard of the Oldest House in Key West. It's a fun event. Hope to see you there.

Happy Belated Paczki Day
Yesterday was Paczki Day. A day I remember celebrating every year. Our family would send one of us to wait in line and you had to be there early in order to get in and out, and, of course to choose the ones you really liked. I just read each is about 425 calories, but no one counts because Lent is one day away, a long haul until Easter. Don't they look good? Yummy up.
